Where are you located?

Chatterpillars is based in Central Austin, with services provided at a select group of preschools, as well as in a nearby studio located in the Tarrytown area. feel free to reach out if you’d like help determining whether your location falls within our current service area!

what is a speech and language screening?

Each fall, at the preschools we partner with, we offer brief screenings to identify potential speech or language concerns. A screening is not a full evaluation, but rather a snapshot of your child’s current skills to determine if further assessment may be needed. After the screening, results and any recommendations are shared witih you. If the screening suggests that a more in-depth evaluation would be helpful, the screening fee can be applied toward the cost of that evaluation.

Does my child need an evaluation to start therapy?

We do require an evaluation before beginning a therapy program. The evaluation helps to guide treatment planning and ensures that goals are designed specifically to your child’s needs.

What does an evaluation look like?

Evaluations are tailored to your child’s age and areas of concern, which may include speech sounds, language development, or social and play skills. Formal and informal measures are administered to determine eligibility. Fees are based on the type of assessments recommended and your child’s individual needs. After the evaluation, you’ll receive a written report with results and clear recommendations for next steps..

What can I expect from therapy?

Therapy sessions are customized to your child’s unique needs and goals. Each session includes a mix of playful, engaging activities designed to support growth in a way that feels fun and natural. Therapy session length and frequency are based on the recommendations from your child’s evaluation report. We typically recommend 30 or 45-minute sessions. Depending on your child’s age and specific needs. therapy is usually recommended at 1x, 2x, or 3x per week.

Do you accept insurance?

Chatterpillars is a private-pay therapy practice and does not bill insurance directly. however, many families use their health savings account (hsa) or flexible spending account (fsa) to pay for services. We also accept credit cards, cash and checks. Payment is due at the time of service.

While we are not in-network with insurance providers, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. Please note that coverage for speech and language therapy can vary widely, and not all plans offer out-of-network benefits - especially for developmental needs. We’re not able to assist with insurance-related tasks or submissions, but we do encourage families to contact their provider directly to explore options.

How does scheduling work?

Sessions are typically scheduled during preschool hours on select weekdays and are based on your child’s school schedule. We follow the AISD calendar for all holidays, breaks, and inclement weather procedures.

at this time, routine Summer sessions are not offered, as our focus is on providing consistent high-quality therapy during the school year.
